Describe how the Internet works

PERSONAL AREA NETWORK (PAN)
A Personal Area Network (PAN) is the interconnection of devices within the range of an individual person. It is usually within a 10 metre range. For example, connecting computer to other devices such as mobile phones using Bluetooth or wireless technology creates a very small network known as Personal Area Network.

LOCAL AREA NETWORK (LAN)
A local area network (LAN) is the connection of devices over a small geographic area. Local Area Network covers areas such as home, office, schools, churches, mosque etc.

METROPOLITAN AREA NETWORK (MAN)
Metropolitan Area Network is a network that interconnects computers and devices within geographic area or region such as a district, town constituency or a metropolitan area. It is larger than a local area network (LAN) but smaller than wide area network (WAN).

WIDE AREA NETWORK (WAN)
Wide Area Network is defined as the connection of computers and devices in a large geographic area. It is a network in a large area such as a country, continent and the whole globe. Wide Area Networks are connected using fibre optic lines, telephone lines, satellite, routers, etc. Two or more Local Networks or Metropolitan Area Networks combines to form Wide Area Network.
