Writing Paragraphs that Identify an Issue, Give Details, and Suggest Solutions

Writing a well-structured paragraph involves three key parts:

  1. Identifying the Issue – Clearly state the problem.

  2. Giving Details About It – Explain its causes, effects, or examples.

  3. Suggesting Solutions – Provide possible ways to solve it.

Steps to Write an Effective Paragraph

✅ Step 1: Start with a Clear Topic Sentence

  • Introduce the issue briefly.

✅ Step 2: Expand with Supporting Details

  • Explain why it is a problem.

  • Give examples, statistics, or personal experiences.

✅ Step 3: Provide a Solution

  • Suggest practical ways to fix the issue.

  • Use words like one solution is, another way to solve this is, we should consider.

Sample Paragraphs

📌 Issue: Poor Sanitation in Schools
Many schools face the problem of poor sanitation, which affects students’ health and learning. Dirty toilets, lack of clean drinking water, and uncollected waste make the school environment unhealthy. As a result, students fall sick frequently, leading to absenteeism. One solution is to educate students on hygiene practices and provide enough dustbins. Another solution is for school authorities to ensure that toilets and classrooms are cleaned regularly.

📌 Issue: Bullying in Schools
Bullying is a serious issue in many schools, causing fear and low self-esteem among students. Some learners are teased, threatened, or even physically hurt by their classmates. This makes them afraid to participate in school activities. To stop bullying, teachers should educate students about kindness and respect. Also, strict rules should be enforced to punish those who bully others.

📌 Issue: Littering in Public Places
Littering is a major problem in many communities, making streets and parks dirty. People throw plastic bottles, wrappers, and other waste carelessly, causing pollution. This not only makes the environment unattractive but also leads to health problems. One way to solve this problem is to place more trash bins in public places. Another solution is to fine people who litter and encourage recycling.
