The word who is a relative pronoun. It links the noun ‘girl’ to more information about her. Today, we’ll learn how to use relative pronouns properly!

 

Write these words in your book.
who, whom, whose, which, that

  • Who – for people (subject): The boy who is singing is my cousin.

  • Whom – for people (object): The teacher whom we respect is kind.

  • Whose – shows possession: The girl whose bag was stolen is crying.

  • Which – for things or animals: The book which I borrowed is interesting.

  • That – for people or things (less formal): The dog that barked is outside.

Write these sentences in your book and ask your friend to underline the relative pronouns and say what they refer to:

  1. The man who fixed our TV is my uncle.

  2. The chair that is broken needs repair.

  3. She is the girl whose brother won the award.

  4. The teacher whom we met was very kind.

  5. The phone which you lost has been found.
