Basic Four – Creative Arts (First Term)

Welcome learners! 🎉
This term, we are going to have so much fun exploring Creative Arts.
We will learn how to create beautiful things we can see with our eyes (Visual Arts) and how to express ourselves through dance, drama, and music (Performing Arts).

Here’s what we will be learning step by step:

Weeks 1–2: Learning from Ghanaian Art

  • We will look at artworks by Ghanaian artists that tell stories about our history and culture.

  • We will also enjoy Ghanaian music, dance, and drama, and see how they reflect our traditions.

Weeks 3–4: Creating Our Own Ideas

  • We will study Ghanaian artworks like Kente, Adinkra, pottery, and carvings to get ideas for our own drawings and designs.

  • We will plan and perform our own short songs, dances, or dramas based on Ghanaian culture.

Weeks 5–6: Art and the Environment

  • We will learn how artists show nature (trees, rivers, animals) and man-made things (houses, towns) in their art.

  • We will create our own artworks and performances about the environment and how to take care of it.

Weeks 7–8: Making Our Own Artworks

  • We will make decisions about what to draw, paint, or design to tell stories about our communities.

  • We will also compose and perform our own creative pieces about life around us.

Weeks 9–10: Art and Topical Issues

  • We will explore how artists use their work to talk about important issues in Ghana, like peace, sanitation, and festivals.

  • We will design posters, drawings, or performances that share positive messages with others.

Weeks 11–12: Creating and Sharing Our Art

  • We will brainstorm ideas and create our own artworks and performances.

  • We will share our creations with the class in an exhibition and performance showcase.
