Farmers farm with the aim of getting food items from their work.
These food items are known as farm produce. The farm produce are used by human beings. We eat some of the produce and others are also put into different use.

Farm produce are crops and other agricultural products sold by farmers.

THE NEED TO EAT OUR LOCAL FOODS
- Locally grown food is full of flavour. When foods are grown locally ,the crops are only picked when they are ripped. This helps to maintain the natural flavour of the crop.
2. Eating local food Is eating seasonally. Since foods cultivated from season to season, eating local foods will help us to enjoy the foods at the right season where the foods have their natural taste.Â
3, Local food has more nutrients. Local food has a shorter time between harvest and consumption. This helps to enjoy all the nutrient components in the food .
4 . Local food supports the local economy. The money that is spent with local farmers and growers all stays close to home and is reinvested with businesses and services in your community.Â
5. Local food benefits the environment. By purchasing locally grown foods you help maintain farmland in your community.Â
6 . Local foods promote a safer food supply. Food grown in distant locations has the potential of being contaminated at harvesting, washing, shipping and distribution.Â
7. Local growers can tell you how the food was grown. You can ask what practices they use to raise and harvest the crops.Â
The importance of Agriculture in Ghana.Â
1. Create employment: Farming create a means of employment to  farmers, Appreciating and using agricultural produce will serves as a means to keep the farmers in business.Â
2 . Revenue for government: When we buy and use agricultural products, the government will earn revenue in the form of taxes from the farmers.Â
3. Income for farmers: Buying and using local farm produce will help the farmers get money from their sales. This type of money is known as income.
4.To sustain our local industries: Farmers will be encouraged to continue the farm work since they can earn enough to cater for themselves.
